OUR HISTORY
Founded in 1874 by Dr. Chas. G. Allen, our company began by producing the “Yankee” hay rake and other horse-drawn farm equipment. In 1904, we manufactured our first Upright Sensitive Drilling Machine and have since produced over 36,000 machines. Our commitment to excellence earned us the Army/Navy “E” Award for outstanding wartime production.
Throughout our history, Chas. G. Allen, Inc. has expanded by acquiring top-tier companies, including Norton Surface Grinders, Nichols Milling Machines, Cleereman Drilling Machines, Harper Mass Finishing, Fitchburg Engineering, Allen Pump, and LA Simpson Machine Company.
